careers

I have a big dream for my future which is to become a manager of my own restaurant.  i will have to take a lot of steps to achieve my goal.

First of all, in one year, I am going back to japan for university after graduating from high school.  I plan to go to university called "Sophia University" and study business marketing to open my own restaurant. So, I will study hard to learn what restaurant management is, what skills are needed to become one, and what operational risks are.  The university will start from April 2017.  I will have a lot of time before I get into university, so I will get a job related to restaurants and will experience how hard it is working under the boss which is necessary to be a manager.  Also, I will gain practical knowledge about opening restaurant, such as creating menus, ordering foods, hiring stuff, and working on communication skills with customers.  I am going to move to Tokyo from Hiroshima for university and will have to live by myself.  The experience that I had in Canada learning to be self-sufficient will be very useful at this time.

In 5 years, I finish my university and must be thinking about opening my own restaurant.  I still haven’t decided what kind of restaurant I should own.  However, a lot of foreign foods such as Indian curry, American burgers, and Italian pasta are all getting popular among Japanese people.  The foreign restaurant has also created a lot of opportunities for the larger expat community.  I think that many Japanese people are getting interested in those foreign restaurants because they all have unique store design and creative foods.  It’s also really important to think about hiring my staff.  An essential part of successfully managing my restaurant is managing a good staff and build successful team.  As a manager, I have to make sure that food is good and most importantly customers are happy.  At this point, I still have no idea what specific knowledge, but a knowledge of restaurant management creates a good restaurant to run smoothly and go strong so more and more customers come back to enjoy the food.

In 10 years, I hope that my restaurant is really famous in Japan.  If so, I want to expand my restaurant business to the whole world, so everybody can eat my food and I can make them all happy.  I still haven’t decided yet the places specific to open another location.  But, I will have to prepare a business plan for a new location based on what’s best for my business.  To expand the business, English will be important key because it is such a universal language in the world.  Using all the lessons and experiences I had in Canada, I will try my best to open my own restaurant and be successful in my life.

4.       A job is something you do to in the short term to earn cash. It's filling a work role within a business exchange for money. A career, though, is a long-term pursuit of a lifelong ambition.
5.       The most common problem with hiring is finding the right people.
6.       Hiring right people is the most important aspect of any business and that’s why it’s also the most difficult. I have to have the right people on my team otherwise my business will struggle.  This principle is true in any business and it’s true.  My boss is hiring staff, it’s also important to be one of the right person to be hired.

8.       I don’t know how much I will get when I become a restaurant manager because it depends on how popular it is.  But when I’m training, I probably get around 12-13 dollars per hour.
9.       I think I will save a money to expand my business to the world.  If I have enough money, I would buy new car.

10.   I want to have dinner outside every day because I hate eating at home be messy.  So meal money will be about $1500 a month.  I will be living at expensive apartment, so it will be about $2000 a month.  When I become a manager of my own restaurant, I hope I’m making $10000 a month.  I can live the way I want I think.
